Postmark focuses on reliable transactional email. SMTPPai connects with a Server API token and an optional Message Stream ID.
When to choose Postmark
Use Postmark when you want a transactional-first provider and already manage mail by Postmark “servers”.
Prerequisites
- A Postmark account and at least one Server.
- A Sender Signature or verified domain for your From address.
- Know that brand-new Postmark accounts may only send to addresses on the same domain as From until the account is approved.
Open SMTPPai
- SMTPPai → Dashboard → Add connection
- Click Postmark
Field-by-field setup
Connection name
Example: “Postmark transactional”.
From name / From email
Must match a confirmed sender/domain in Postmark.
Server API token
- Open Postmark → Servers.
- Open the server you will use → API Tokens.
- Copy the Server API token into SMTPPai’s Server API token field.
Need a new server? Add a Postmark server.
Message Stream ID
For normal transactional mail, use outbound (or leave the default). If you created a custom stream, copy its ID from Postmark → your server → Message Streams.
Credential storage
Database storage, or wp-config: MAILPAI_SMTP_API_KEY with the server token.
Save and test
- Save → Dashboard Test.
- If the account is pending approval, test to an address on the same domain as From (for example
support@yourdomain.com). - Check Email Log.
Common failures
- Using an account/server token that does not match the From domain
- Pending account restrictions on recipients
- Wrong Message Stream ID
