Retry a failed email

When a row in the Email Log shows Failed, you can often fix the underlying problem (credentials, From address, routing) and then retry from the log instead of asking a customer to trigger the email again.

Steps

  1. Open SMTPPai → Email Log.
  2. Filter to Failed if needed.
  3. Open the row details and read the error.
  4. Fix the cause (edit the connection, verify the domain, adjust Specify Connections, etc.).
  5. Return to the log and use Retry send on that failed row.
  6. Confirm the new attempt appears as Sent (or read the new error).

What retry uses

  • Stored recipient and subject
  • The current route / connection logic for sending
  • The stored message body only if you enabled Store email body in log when the original message was logged

Important limits

  • If body logging was off, retry may send a placeholder body such as “Retry send” instead of the original content. Fix logging before you need perfect retries, or re-trigger the original event (order email, form submit).
  • Original headers are not fully restored on retry.
  • Retry will not help until the connection itself works — always Dashboard-test first.
